In a rollicking advert spot marking the brand new collaboration between English skate firm Palace and iconic American model Calvin Klein, actor Willem Dafoe, enjoying a New York cabdriver, is sitting within the driver’s seat. He cranes in the direction of professional skater Shawn Powers within the again to ask, “The place are we going?”
“Take me to Tompkins.”
With a smile, Dafoe—presumably in character, though he used to live around the way—clarifies they’re driving to TF, the “Coaching Area” blacktop within the East Village’s Tompkins Sq. Dafoe and Powers are solely two members of the motley crew commemorating the Calvin Klein x Palace assortment. The gathering’s anchor is a Palace riff on CK’s basic 1994 perfume CK One—usually pegged as the primary unisex perfume—that each manufacturers promise is a “low key good scent” that “smells correct good” and is “undoubtedly not gnarly pungent.” On the attire facet, there are mashed-up signature items from easygoing brand crewnecks to baggy-to-the-leg denim, and matching jackets to basketball jerseys.
