Yard Act have teamed up with Elton John for a brand new model ‘100% Endurance’, a monitor off the Leeds band’s debut album The Overload. The brand new take was recorded at Parlour Studios and produced and combined by Ali Chant at Metropolis Studios. Take heed to it under.
Talking in regards to the collaboration, Yard Act frontperson James Smith stated:
Inside our camp we now have a saying: ‘Mad shit occurs once you do artwork’ – it means what it means. You make stuff since you wish to make it, and also you throw stuff you’ve made into the world since you’d reasonably share it than not and you then go away it alone and let it do its factor. That factor you probably did can take you to locations you didn’t intend to go together with it, however it’s out of your management actually. You haven’t any management over the mad shit. It simply occurs (once you do artwork). Elton John noticed our stuff and he began telling the press he thought we had been good after which we chatted on the telephone and after just a few calls I stated ‘Elton, do you wish to come to the studio and play piano on a tune?’ as a result of, fuck it, it doesn’t matter if he says no. Anyway, he stated ‘sure’, so it doesn’t matter that he didn’t say no. I don’t know what else to say. He’s good. Switched on, hilarious and an incredible musician.
After he’d laid down the piano and laid down the vocals, taking path from us and attempting every thing we requested, Elton reiterated his love of sessioning on different individuals’s tracks and stated one thing very poignant to me and Ali – “I really like enjoying on different individuals’s songs, particularly these guys, as a result of I began off as a session musician. The fascinating factor is you hear issues so in a different way from different individuals, and once you hear what they hear, then all of it is smart.” That perception, that curiosity and that method to music is the explanation he’s nonetheless standing (in spite of everything this time). Elton is a diamond. It was an honour to collaborate with him. My mum is exhibiting off to all her mates and mad shit occurs once you do artwork.
John added: “From the primary second I heard Yard Act, I fell in love with James’ lyrics, and the way in which he’s delivered the track. Their sound is such a breath of contemporary air. When James known as and requested if I might come into the studio I immediately beloved the thought. I began out as a session musician within the late ’60s and I completely beloved it then. It was such a thrill to be thrown in with musicians I’d by no means met earlier than, it pushed me out of my consolation zone and I turned a greater musician. Throughout lock down I had the time on my arms to essentially begin doing that in a concerted approach once more, and I fell in love with the problem and the method once more. They’re a really particular band, with an enormous future forward of them and I’m honoured they’ve let me be part of their journey.”
