The Booker Prize longlist was introduced on Tuesday. The 13 titles are:

In my predictions post, I appropriately guessed three out of the 13 titles, and I’m happy to see Case Study by Graeme Macrae Burnet on the longlist. I’m trying ahead to studying ‘Belief’ by Hernan Diaz and ‘The Colony’ by Audrey Magee which had been my different two predictions. I’ve already picked up a duplicate of ‘Sales space’ by Karen Pleasure Fowler from the library this week which is a historic novel concerning the household of John Wilkes Sales space, the person who shot and killed Abraham Lincoln.
A few of the latest Booker Prize longlists have been dominated by well-known authors – notably in 2019 and 2021 – whereas this yr’s choice has seen a couple of extra surprises, akin to 87-year-old Alan Garner nominated alongside 20-year-old Leila Mottley, the youngest ever individual to be longlisted for her debut novel. I’ve heard unanimously optimistic critiques of ‘The Bushes’ by Percival Everett which is a few collection of murders in a rural city in Mississippi and ‘Small Issues Like These’ by Claire Keegan which addresses what occurred within the Magdalene laundries in Eire.
